However, before you can get your real estate license you will need to meet some requirements. I have listed those requirements below to get you started:
California Real Estate License Requirements:
Before I get started, I just want to point out that this is intended to be a general list of requirements and you should check with the state before getting started to make sure that you do not need anything else.
Requirement #1: You must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or a GED.
Requirement #2: You will need to take a real estate course. These can be taken online or at a real estate school or community college in your area. The choice is up to you.
Requirement #3: After successfully completing your real estate course you will need to take a state issued real estate exam. These are scheduled through the state licensing board and you will need to pay an exam fee.
Requirement #4: Upon completion of the exam you can complete the application process and wait for your license to be issued. This process usually takes a couple of weeks, depending on the state.
That is about all there is to it. Once you have completed the above you can begin selling real estate in California. I usually tell students to plan a couple of months for the licensing process and then an additional couple of months to get your business in gear. It will take time to build up a client list and start making some sales. So make sure that you have a plan in place to live without any income for at least a few months.
