The Handy Oven

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

... with standard stovetops induction ranges and conventional ovensBaking has been a hobby of housewives for many generations, along with cooking, knitting and doing housework. Baking allows for creativity and cooking skills to manifest and allows the baker to express himself in making a lovely creation, be it a cake or a cookie. Cookware reviews mention that ovens have always been in demand since their invention. Today, in fact, emphasis is shifting from larger, more conventional ovens which were widely used before to smaller, more compact and practical ovens which can easily fit on the kitchen counter.

One reason touted for the change from large to small ovens is the convenience and smaller spaces in kitchens today as land prices soar high. Another possible explanation is that smaller ovens today come with more customizable settings and allow easier handling. With the right recipe and a good oven which is user-friendly, even the most inexperienced baker can manage to conjure up a tray of freshly baked cookies or a delicious cake just waiting to be cut with a sharp knife.

Making Ice Cream All the Way

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

You can go ahead and buy ice cream if you want to but I’m making it myself all the way. I finally purchased a great ice cream machine that gives me the ability to create this wonderful treat whenever I want. Even if it’s cold outside, I have a penchant for this awesome dessert and I’m not afraid to put it together whenever I want. It’s a great way to spend time with my family and my kids certainly enjoyed helping me out. One of the best things is trying different ingredients to experiment on your own. Even with a simple flavor like strawberry, you can create wonderful adaptations that bring a new flavors to life. One of my favorite things to do is to add fresh pieces of fruit that work wonderfully with chills ice cream. There are also things like marshmallows and chocolate you can put into the mix, and there are many cases where you can come up with something that you simply cannot buy. If you really love ice cream and you call yourself a fan then you really have to try making it on your own to see what happens.

A Coffee Lover

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

I have always been a coffee lover. I just cannot survive without it and used to go to Starbucks and other coffee chains very often.

When I moved to this small, beautiful town, one of the things that I really missed about my big city life was this. There are no coffeehouses in this town and I missed the taste and aroma I used enjoy while working on my laptop at any cafe.

I mentioned this to my husband. He said he couldn’t really recreate the café environment in our small house but he could do something else about it. The next he surprised with a Rancilio Silvia, one of the best espresso machines available in the market.

Sleek and pretty, it is also affordable and easy to accommodate because of its size. It makes the most wonderful coffee one can imagine. I wonder why I never bought it before. I could have had much cheaper coffee sitting at home.

A Stylish Way to Drink

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

I just love cocktail glasses. They really look very sophisticated and elegant. They make me feel like a movie star. I can’t drink out of any other glass. If I go to to a friends place and he offers me a drink out of a plastic cup then I just walk out. I have liked the finer things in life. I dink a lot of alcolhol. But I always brink the best. I spend a lot of money on fine French wine as well. But I am just crazy about cocktails. I can drink them all day. I do not really like the taste of alcohol. I can only drink it when it is mixed with some sort of mixer. I usually like tomato juice, grape juice or orange juice in my drinks. I feel ghat fruit juices really hide the taste of alcohol. They also make the drink slightly healthier.

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

There is one main difference between Papa Johns Pizza and other food outlet chains. Before proceeding to look at the said difference, we may mention that the Papa Johns Pizza outlets chain in question is one of the most successful food businesses in the USA – with well over 2,600 outlets countrywide. A food business raking in well over a billion dollars in revenues is successful, by any account. Students of business coming across these assertions instantly want to know what the explanation for Papa John’s success is. More fundamentally, they express an interest in knowing what the difference between Papa Johns and other struggling food outlet chains is.

So, what is the main difference between Papa Johns Pizza and other food outlet chains we alluded to earlier?

Well, in our view, the main difference between Papa Johns pizza and other food outlet chains is in the fact that, through a relatively simple menu, Papa Johns gets the opportunity to concentrate on what it is best at, rather than being a Jack of all trades, and ending up being a master of none. Most other food chain outlets, on the other hand, seem to be obsessed with the need to offer their customers everything, which means that the food outlet chains in question end up with no known ‘specialties.’

The "super Grain" Called Quinoa

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

To think we almost lost the chance to experience Quinoa is something that makes this "super food" worth trying. Quinoa is a seed that looks and almost tastes like whole grains, which is why it is called a "pseudo" grain. It comes from the mountain of the Andes in South America. The Incas once referred to Quinoa as "chisiya mama" (mother grain in english). It was known to be the "gold of the Incas" before it was called "super food". In an effort to annihilate the Incas and their ich culture, Spanish conquistadors almost removed quinoa from the face of the earth, but thankfully, quinoa survived throughout the years and now it can be enjoyed every single day of the year.

Quinoa is circular and flat, much like wheat or oat. It becomes soft and fluffy with a bit of a crunch when cooked. Quinoa is known to have a subtle flavor and is very light. Quinoa and it’s ability to compliment any flavor or ingredient makes it a favorite among health conscious individuals who follow a strict diet. It can be seen in desserts, light meals, or entrees. Quinoa recipes are often healthy and full of vitamin rich ingredients. Although the common quinoa dishes are salads, it is used by other people in soups, bread, pudding, casseroles, or pasta dishes as well.

The versatility of quinoa can not only be found in quinoa dishes, it can also be found in the different benefits that we get from quinoa. Quinoa is often used by people who want to lose weight. Because it has fiber which helps speed up our metabolism we are able to lose weight faster thanks to quinoa. People who follow a gluten free diet also enjoy quinoa everyday. Quinoa is often used to treat malnutrition specially in children, it can also prevent obesity and hypertension.
